SHANCO VS THEM – SEE THE DIFFERENCE
why hire professionals?
Your paint is the most visible part of your home.
Who you hire to paint your home matters. Low‑bid shortcuts lead to do‑overs, delays, ghosting and surprise charges. Our trained, vetted, and insured crews deliver durable finishes on schedule—and keep you informed at every step.
See how hiring us saves you from stress and heartache.
Here’s what you get with a trained, insured crew—and what usually goes wrong without one.
Prep That Holds Up
With tens of thousands of hours spent on prep. Tight repairs, clean edges, bonded primer, and two even coats—work that holds up because we’ve done it a thousand times. You will never regret choosing us for the job.
Licensed & Accountable
We are WA licensed, insured, and bonded. Itemized estimates, easily accessible schedules, daily progress updates online, and a final walkthrough before we collect our final check—no surprises, no ghosting and a warranty to back up our work. Verify our license →
Meticulous Protection
Floors, fixtures, and landscaping fully protected; glass and hardware masked; controlled application. Paint goes where it’s supposed to—not where it’s not. Clean wrap-up daily; no drips, no overspray.
If We Break It, We Fix It
With us it's rare, but accidents happen, if our crew causes accidental damage during your project, we repair, replace, or reimburse—that's our cost, not yours.
Early Failure
Peeling, cracking, bubbling, and uneven sheens, coverage or paint that rubs off with your thumb—these are all things that can occur when the proper procedures and products are not at the forefront of every project.
No License or Insurance
You carry the liability for injuries and damage—and there’s usually no recourse. When there's ladder's involved, one bad fall could cost more than 10 good contractors.
No Accountability
Underpriced jobs run out of budget, schedules slip, calls stop, work stalls—and you’re left managing the mess. No portal, no written scope, no recourse.
Ugly Work
Ever seen a house with drips on the paint, uneven coverage, crooked cut lines, or paint on the windows or ground? You don't want that—fixing it costs more than doing it right once.

Already Hired us? Prepare for our Arrival
Move small/fragile items; we handle large furniture.
Please pack away valuables, glass décor, small electronics, and cables. We’ll move and protect sofas, tables, and beds as needed and return them at the end. Let us know about heavy or specialty items (pianos, aquariums, safes, gym equipment) so we can plan for third‑party moving if required. Floors and large pieces are covered and masked before work begins.
Remove wall art and window treatments you’d like saved.
Take down artwork, mirrors, shelves, curtain rods, and blinds you want to keep. Place hardware in labeled bags by room. We’ll patch standard nail holes unless you plan to reuse them—just tell us which to leave.
Rehanging is available upon request at project completion.
Confirm colors and sheens; we can provide test samples.
Finalize brand, color codes, and finishes (e.g., eggshell for walls; semi‑gloss for trim). If you’re undecided, we’ll apply on‑site samples so you can see colors in your lighting. Share a simple room‑by‑room list and note any accent walls; once approved, we’ll order materials.
For exterior projects: check your HOA’s color‑approval rules. We’ll provide samples and product data to help you secure approval and avoid delays or fines.
Reserve parking/entry; note alarms, pets, or gate codes.
A nearby parking spot and outlet help us work efficiently. Share keypad/gate codes, alarm schedules, and any HOA requirements. We can also provide secure lockboxes during our time on the project.
For safety, please keep pets and children away from active work areas; we’ll confirm daily start/finish times so you can plan around noise and access.
Clear outdoor hose bibs/outlets for exterior work.
Move grills, planters, furniture, and vehicles away from the house. Turn off sprinklers 24 hours before and after painting; close windows on workdays. Trim vegetation 6–12" from siding when possible—extra clearance improves prep and coverage. We protect landscaping and hardscapes throughout the project.
Cabinet painting prep (if we’re painting cabinets).
Empty cabinets and drawers; clear countertops. We remove doors and hardware, label everything, and create a designated spray/curing area. Expect reduced kitchen access during the process; we’ll review a daily plan and provide care instructions for the curing period.
Note: We focus on building surfaces. Asbestos/lead testing & abatement and significant mold remediation are performed by licensed specialists before sealing when required. We’re happy to coordinate and return after clearance.

General FAQs
Are you licensed, insured, and bonded?
Absolutely—fully licensed, bonded, and insured in Washington State. Your peace of mind matters, so we proactively ensure you’re protected. Working with Shanco means your home, investment, and peace of mind are always safeguarded.
How many coats do you apply?
Most projects get two finish coats for full, even coverage. We prime as needed for repairs, color changes, stains, or bare surfaces so the topcoat bonds and looks consistent.
Do you brush/roll or spray?
Interiors are typically brush & roll for a smooth, low‑odor finish. Exteriors often use spray + back‑roll/back‑brush to drive paint into the profile and seams. We choose the method that delivers the most durable result for your surface.
How do you ensure the quality of your work?
Quality is our cornerstone. Our technicians undergo comprehensive training, maintain continuous education, and follow strict quality-control guidelines. Every project is meticulously inspected, ensuring our work not only meets—but exceeds—your expectations.
Can you match an existing color?
Yes. If a color chip or the color code & brand is provided, it offers the most reliable match. However, we can also acquire a color sample from a wall, outlet, trim, piece of painted hardware to obtain a custom color match for when prior information is unavailable. We also offer on‑site test samples so you can see the color in your lighting before we start.
How long does paint take to dry and cure?
Typical interior paints are dry to touch in 1–2 hours, recoat in 2–4 hours, and fully cured in 2–4 weeks depending on product, temperature, and humidity. We’ll leave care instructions so your finish hardens properly.
How do you handle unexpected problems or delays?
Proactively and transparently. We anticipate challenges through careful project planning and maintain constant communication if unforeseen issues arise. Our team is committed to solutions—not excuses—ensuring minimal disruption to your timeline and budget.
Can we live in the home while you paint?
Usually yes. We work room‑by‑room, maintain ventilation, and use low‑odor products. We’ll create a daily plan for access, pets, and cleanup so you can keep life running.
Do you repair drywall and match texture?
Definitely — we fix nail pops, dents, cracks, water‑stain areas, and blend texture so repaired sections disappear after paint.
Can you provide references or examples of past projects?
Absolutely! Our work speaks for itself. We’re proud of the relationships we’ve built and would be delighted to connect you with previous clients. Additionally, we invite you to explore our portfolio of successful projects—real homes, real results, real satisfaction.
What steps do you take to keep the project site clean and safe?
We treat your space as carefully as you would. Before work begins, we implement protective measures, including dust barriers and surface protection. Daily site clean-ups are standard practice—your comfort, safety, and convenience are always prioritized
Do you handle homes built before 1978 (lead paint)?
Following EPA lead‑safe work practices as required for pre‑1978 properties— if testing is needed, we’ll advise and coordinate. However, if the original paint isn’t disturbed (such as scraped off or otherwise damaged) then it is perfectly fine to paint over it with new paint. There will still be a need proper abatement before a major renovation can safely take place, however.
How will you keep me informed throughout the project?
Through proactive, clear, and consistent communication. Through our project portal, you will have access to all the important details you care about — such as your project schedule and daily logs to keep you in the loop. You’ll never have to wonder where things stand. With Shanco, you’ll always know exactly what’s happening—and why.
Can you help with HOA color approvals?
Absolutely. We’ll supply samples and product data and prepare a simple submittal package; homeowners obtain final HOA approval before we order materials.
What happens to leftover paint and materials?
Your choice. We leave a labeled touch‑up container and a Paint Info Sheet (room, brand, color code, sheen, date). Empty cans are recycled; we can also arrange eco‑friendly disposal for any extras.
Will there be hidden fees or additional costs beyond the initial estimate?
Never. Transparency and honesty guide everything we do. We clearly outline project costs upfront, eliminating financial uncertainty. If unforeseen circumstances arise, you’ll be informed immediately—no surprises, no hidden fees, just total clarity and clearly documented for your reference. Barring unforeseen circumstances, if we underestimate materials or labor expenditures, that’s on us – we will not breach our agreement with you.
How do you train your employees to ensure professional results?
Continuous training is at the heart of our team’s expertise. Shanco technicians complete rigorous professional training and ongoing skill-enhancement programs. By investing in our people, we ensure superior workmanship and consistently excellent results for you.
Do you offer any warranties or guarantees on your work?
Absolutely—we stand proudly behind every project. Your satisfaction and confidence are critical to us. Every project is covered by clear workmanship warranties, reflecting our commitment to quality, responsibility, and your long-term peace of mind.
How quickly can I expect a response if I have questions during my project?
Prompt communication is our promise. Your project manager and our team remain accessible and responsive. Expect same-day responses to your questions or concerns, ensuring you feel secure, informed, and in control from start to finish.
Still have questions?
Our team is available to answer your questions about your next residential demolition project.
Shanco installed the drywall on a home I was building. The gentleman I worked with was concise, responsive and overall professional. It was a 3000sqft property and they completed their task in a timely manner. I will definitely be giving them a call again should I need some work done on a future development.
- Jim G
Fast, efficient, and fair pricing. Patrick was easy to work with and knowledgeable. The business I manage used Shanco for water damage restoration after two separate plumbing leaks. I will use them again if another leak occurs.
- Chris S
Patrick and team were absolutely amazing. They had great communication prior to work. Made me feel comfortable in the process. Price was highly competitive, they are not going to take advantage of anyone. Saving the best for last, the work was extremely high quality. I couldn’t had asked for a better experience.
